Target Audience...

I have created a survey on surveymonkey.com to do some market research into the target audience and conventions people would expect to see in an acoustic music video. From this research, the responses I receive will help to decide some aspects of my music video.

This is my survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JFNXYNG

Time Lapse...

This is a time lapse test I carried out in class. I took the camera outside my college and filmed on the main road. Then I decreased the aperture and increased the ISO so when the photos were taken, they were slightly blurred making the time lapse work better.

Equipment tests...

This is my equipment tests, I did these so when I went to film my final music video, I would know how to use all the equipment. I experimented with aperture, the crane, the stedicam and the dolly.

Practise music video: Eminem - When I'm Gone

In class, we were put into groups and assigned to make a music video. We thought of a song then went out to film with not much planning to see what skills we had so far. Our singer is Harry Zambon, whose role was lip sync to the song as well as follow typical conventions of the rap/hip-hop genre. Other members of the team had to take it in turns to film and edit the footage. Below is the final video:

Animatic + feedback ...

Using my storyboard, I put together a animatic to my chosen song. This shows the different angles and movements that will be included in my video.

Once I had uploaded my animatic to my YouTube channel, we had a class discussion about all our animatics, enabling us to receive feedback.

- I like the variation of shots, however more filler shots could be included to show the location
- Nice use of natural locations but maybe it could have a narrative
- It's good as you can tell it meets the conventions of an acoustic music video, through the use of locations and props
- Maybe a change of location?
- Use more of a mixture of shots, like panning

From this feedback, I now know that I must use more shots, especially sequences and panning. Also, a narrative could be used to further develop the concept that is typically seen in an acoustic/indie music video.
